Pixel Links 0.3.5: privacy, fixed

Pixel Links 0.3.5 is out on Google Play. It is mostly about privacy: no play data or crash reports go out until you agree. Older versions let a few automatic signals out first, and we would rather say that plainly than leave it in a footnote.

One question, three equal answers

The first time you play, the game asks once, with three answers drawn alike: YES, PLUS OUR ADS · PLAY DATA ONLY · NO THANKS. Measuring our Google ads with your advertising ID is its own choice, and it stays off unless you turn it on. Your play data is never used to choose the ads anyone sees.

If you agree, shared play data now covers more of how people play, for example skips, undo, quits and return visits. The full list is in the privacy policy.

What we stopped saying

We dropped "anonymous" and "no location" from our privacy wording, because neither was accurate. The ad library made by Google, which serves the ads between levels, collects some data for every player whatever the answer: approximate location from the IP address, app interactions, diagnostics, and device and account-related IDs. When you tap Remove Ads or a purchase goes through, the purchasing library made by Unity Technologies sends that purchase activity to Unity. "No play data until you agree" is about our own analytics, not those libraries. The Google Play listing's Data safety section now shows all of this too.

Two fairness fixes

Did Remove Ads stop working? This update restores it. Deleting your data from Settings no longer costs you Remove Ads either; it comes back in the same session.

From now on, if the game closes after an ad you watched to the end, your Endless skip still counts and your Full Hint is still saved.

Talking to us

Settings now has SEND FEEDBACK, which opens an email to support@gagame.studio, and OUR WEBSITE. The full privacy policy lives at gagame.studio/policy/pixel-links.

The policy now says what the game does. That is the whole point of this update.
